Hi, I'm Lucas

About

Passionate, logically thinking, and highly motivated engineering student with a passion for learning. Extremely proficient in problem solving and critical thinking, highly organized, detail oriented, and patient. Dedicated to become the best version of myself, I value feedback, no matter what kind or who it comes from. Always ready to explore new possibilities! Taking part of the space exploration movement and building a better tomorrow are my two main goals.

Design Clubs and Experience

UF Rocket Team, Testing Lead

  • Developed a set of 15 test procedures to standardize general component testing
  • Tests include airframe material compression tests (axial & radial), static motor tests, and ejection charge tests
  • Experience working with and analyzing data from Instron machines and wind tunnels
  • Experience writing and reviewing test procedures, FMEA’s, and FMECA’s
  • Responsible for teaching and training 7 students to become efficient test engineers for the team
  • Running a training series on rocketry basics, MATLAB, SolidWorks (modeling & simulations), and project management

  • Aggeregators, Design and Manufacturing:

  • Modeled, and manufactured improved digging buckets from previous years, able to withstand continuous digging of the competition soil and hold about 30% more gravel than previous designs.
  • Analyzed penetrometer data of the competition soil along with the design’s estimated weight and derived the minimum surface area required to support the robot without sinking in order to aid the wheel design process.
  • Design and Manufacturing Lab

  • Exposed to full manufacturing process: research, concept design, justifications, prototyping, manufacturing.
  • Design project task was to build a robot to traverse provided course while accomplishing certain tasks.
  • Fully designed, modeled, and manufactured bucket manipulator mechanism of the robot consisting of 80/20 and sheetmetal parts. Mechanism improved design performance by allowing the team to handle bonus tasks for points.
  • Manufactured wheel hubs and motor mounts out of aluminum operating a lathe and a mill (CNC and manual)
  • Two Broke College Guys (June 2017 - Present)

    • Co-founded a handyman business in Viera, FL.
    • Gained over 20 clients by providing services such as yardwork, logo design, and tutoring.
    • Profited over $2600.00 to date, investing about $375.00 of that towards business cards, company website, and acquiring rights to the business name (in progress).
